Ricefish are a hardy and adaptable species that works well in community aquariums and planted tanks!

The Yokihi is a fancy breed of Japanese Ricefish. Commonly confused for the simple Orange Medaka, the Yokihi features richer, red-orange tones that contrast beautifully against colorful aquarium plants and aquarium substrates. Medakaare popular in pond-style tanks and provide a unique top-down view for the hobbyist to enjoy. Like other species of Ricefish, Yokihi Medaka are very hardy and adaptable to a wide variety of aquarium parameters and salinity levels.

Ricefish are peaceful and should be housed in the aquarium with other peaceful fish and larger peaceful invertebrates. Yokihi Ricefish will dobest in schools of 6 or more and display the best color and behavior when kept in appropriately sized groups. Ricefishdo have the potential to jump, so it is recommended that coverage be availableif a well-fitting lid is not being used. Like most species of aquarium fauna, the YokihiRicefish will appreciate the addition of liveaquarium plants to the tank as well.

YokihiRicefish areomnivorous and will eat a wide variety of fish food. High-quality flakes, pellets, live or frozen will be readily accepted by Ricefish.
